Make yourself at Home(x)

You built a Nerves device. It talks to hardware, it's reliable, it runs Elixir. Now you want to do something useful with the data. Dashboards, automations, statistics, a mobile app, maybe voice control. You could build all of that yourself - or you could sprinkle in a few lines of Elixir and get it all for free. Home Assistant already solved the smart home management and is maybe already part of your home. Nerves is a great platform to interact with hardware and act as a reliable hub — aggregating sensors and protocols that Home Assistant could never reach directly. Homex bridges these two worlds and brings the best of them together. Each entity is an OTP process: supervised, isolated and introspectable. It turns out the smart home is a surprisingly natural fit for a supervision tree. Let's make ourselves at Home(x) and have some fun!

I am a German software engineer at Intermediate Engineering GmbH where I write Elixir to power big screen media installations. I've studied media technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. A combination that lets me bring the media and software world closer together. Off-screen, I also tinker with Elixir and I'm a firm believer in open source software. And every Sunday I'm in pursuit of the perfect Neapolitan pizza. 🍕
